PhD Candidates Only | NEW - Developing Your Academic Writing Skills
INHALT / CONTENT
Do you know the feeling that your writing style just isn't scientific, fluent, or clear enough? Do you spend hours perfecting the first sentence of a chapter? Do you sometimes despair at finding time to write? Writing should be creative adventure and flow experience, but it often feels like struggle or even pain. The pressure of the academic principle "publish or perish" certainly doesn't help. Fortunately, scientific writing can be learned like any craft.
In this seminar, we will discuss the characteristics, taboos, and clichés of general academic language and analyze the specific features of your field. We will explore organization and motivation in the writing process and develop writing strategies and techniques that will help you individually. Using a self-written text excerpt, you will practice giving peer feedback effectively and receive personalized peer feedback on your writing.
